About the innovation

Transform learning with Minecraft

As COVID-19 concerns prompt school closures around the world, many educators are turning to remote learning to keep students engaged. To help teachers and students stay connected to the classroom, Minecraft: Education Edition is now available through June 2020 for all educators and learners who have a valid Office 365 Education account.

They have also compiled a special Minecraft remote learning toolkit, which includes more than 100 lessons, STEM curriculum, and project-based learning activities so educators can use Minecraft: Education Edition with their students whether they are in school, at home or in another remote learning environment. Impact & scalability

Impact & Scalability

Challenges offer a great way to engage students in creative problem solving and project-based learning. Multiplayer mode in Minecraft: Education Edition encourages collaboration and communication, and can create a sense of humor and fun, especially when distance learning can cause students to feel isolated or disengaged.

HundrED Academy Reviews

Minecraft has been considered as one of the most creative and interesting learning platform for young people in the past decade. This game-based program challenges students to solve problems, communication skills, sense of space, etc. and students love it!

This is a great innovation because Minecraft is something children are already playing so to blend that with education makes it that much more impactful. It also spans across many ages/many subjects so can reach a wide variety of students.
