Helsinki Education Week is an official side event for Finland’s Presidency of the Council in the European Union and it is organised by the Helsinki city and HundrED.
With over 200 event proposals received by the event team over the spring & summer of this year, the diverse event proposals target Finnish, Swedish and English-speaking participants, learners of all ages as well as for those who are interested in learning and developing education.
Many educators & innovators from the HundrED Community will also be joining the 2019 Helsinki Education Week program. Below is a list of events led by HundrED Innovators, Ambassadors, and other education experts that we encourage you to attend:
HundrED Youth Leadership Panel
HundrED Youth Ambassadors along with the Helsinki Youth Council members will be hosting an open panel discussion on what it takes to empower young people to voice their opinions, build leadership and take action. For a twist, you won't be hearing from teachers or any other decision-makers but young people themselves!

HundrED 2020 Global Innovation Collection Launch
We’re gearing up for the HundrED 2020 Global Innovation Collection Launch as part of the HundrED Innovation Summit, set to take place in Helsinki, November 6th-8th.
From a traveling high school to networks that ignite engaging, relevant and equitable learning practices, highlighting student voice and reigniting intrinsic motivation in teachers and education systems. Opehuoneen ääni is a teacher-driven podcast from Helsinki. XTalksWORLDListens is a coaching programme from Malawi to coach teens to tell their stories. Designing new learning spaces
Lene Jensby Lange, Founder of Learning Space Design Lab will co-host a hands-on workshop with Tommi Tiittala for designing and redesigning schools' learning spaces and environment. The workshop includes discussions about learning cultures. The workshop is especially for teachers, leaders, educators, headmasters, and architects.

Making Young Voices Heard: Workshop for Public Speaking and Self-expression
Led by our HundrED Ambassador, published scholar and book author, Founder of www.publicspeaking.fi, Dr. Anna Nikina-Ruohonen will be hosting this workshop to explore the best practices internationally in teaching public speaking, oracy and self-expression skills to children and youth.
The workshop is designed to raise and collectively explore a range of aspects, such as: What kind of education in the sphere of public speaking and self-expression is currently offered? What works exceptionally well in teaching these critical skills to children? What are some of the bottlenecks? What are some of the most effective teaching methodologies in Finland and internationally?

Chatta-Workshop for improving skills in communication
Led by Chris Williams, Chatta helps children to become Stronger Communicators, Readers, Writers, and Thinkers.
This workshop is for students to improve their skills in communication. Workshop is also about learning more about literacy and language. This workshop can help students with their long term memory. This event is for 1st and 2nd-grade students. Students can take part with their teacher (max. 40 students). The event's main language is English.
