Why did you create this innovation?

Brazilian public schools implement numerous educational policies, but many yield limited results due to various factors affecting implementation. The Predictors of Learning were created to identify these challenges, providing education leaders with evidence-based insights to refine strategies and enhance literacy outcomes.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

The Predictors of Learning is an educational management solution that diagnoses school district policies and needs, guiding data-driven decision-making. By analyzing data from school district leaders' responses it provides a comprehensive view of policy implementation, identifying strengths and gaps in areas like curriculum, assessment, teacher training, literacy, learning recovery, and equity. Built on Motriz’s proven methodology—refined over 10 years and implemented in 40+ territories—it supports evidence-based decisions for interventions and continuous improvements. With 2M+ students reached, results show students learning twice as fast in Elementary School and a nearly 40% increase in Middle School learning gains. The solution leverages technology for data analysis and policy evaluation, driving systemic change in public education.

The Predictors of Learning have been implemented in 40+ territories, driving systemic improvements in education. Impact evaluations show that students in school districts using Motriz’s methodology—built upon the Predictors—are learning twice as fast in Elementary School and improving by 40% in Middle School. Even after completing Motriz’s programs, seven school districts continue using the tool, proving its long-term value. Over the next 2-3 years, our goal is to expand to more school districts, make the solution globally accessible via our website, and develop a robust AI-powered tool for faster diagnostics and action planning, ensuring greater efficiency in education management.

Together with partner school districts, Motriz communicates and engages schools about the data collection period, shares instructions, and ensures all conditions are in place for the questionnaire process to run smoothly.

2️- Diagnostic Questionnaire

School managers respond to a structured perception questionnaire about the quality and level of implementation of key education policies, covering pillars such as curriculum, teacher training, assessment, and literacy.

3️- Data Processing & Analysis

The collected data is analyzed by combining school managers’ perceptions with learning indicators, in order to identify strengths, gaps, and priority areas for improvement, aligned with evidence-based practices and public education benchmarks.

4- Customized Action Plan

Based on the findings, we support school district leaders in creating and implementing action plans to strengthen policies, processes, and strategies for improvement.

5️- Monitoring & Support

We work with school district leaders on the annual monitoring of action plans, supporting process improvements and leadership development for implementation. Progress on key indicators is tracked through yearly data collections, ensuring a continuous improvement cycle in literacy and learning outcomes.
