In Uganda’s education system, the need of young people and children to discover themselves, their talents and interests is totally not recognized. Most Schools often underestimate the talents and possibilities of children and the young people who don’t fit into the conventional educational system regarding to them as failures.
We strongly believe every child deserves to be educated to secure a bright future; therefore, as marginalized children experience the GSHF empowerment program, they come to discover and exercise their unique abilities, and develop a self-motivation for education. Further on, we practically teach the motivated children with basic school curriculum fundamentals i.e. how to count, reading, creative writing, learning from holiday package, presenting and other learning tools. We do this through; facilitating engaging interest based learning, self-discovery sessions, life-coaching and mentoring, skills development, social innovation as well as entrepreneurship in order for them to maximize their potentials to become productive and responsible individuals to live a dignified and good life.
In 2021 during our COVID19 Response; We conducted community outreaches within two (2) urban communities and slums communities where we were able to educate, nurture, create awareness, and empower marginalized children. We impacted over 123 marginalized children, and fully registered 60 children with our organization. We also were able to mitigate on Human and child rights as well as providing basic necessities to marginalized children. During this activity were receiving positive feedbacks from different parents, community members and the children themselves, that our services are really fully need, most especially the education part of it.
