With enthusiasm and rigor, we envision Apprendemos as a scalable, evidence-based platform that informs education policy and pedagogical practice, narrowing achievement gaps by geography and gender. Our goals include integrating adaptive learning, strengthening teacher capacities, and driving systemic improvements in digital pedagogy —ensuring equitable access and sustained learning gains.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

Low learning outcomes in mathematics persist across Peruvian primary schools, particularly in rural regions. Teachers often lack access to quality resources and support for active, engaging instruction. Apprendemos seeks to address these gaps by offering structured and motivating digital tools aligned with national curriculum standards.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

Apprendemos is a digital learning program aimed at strengthening math skills in Grades 3–6 of public primary schools in Perú. It includes a mobile application for students —with interactive activities and gamified progress tracking— that works with minimal internet connectivity. Teachers access a web portal with over 200 weekly activities, printable worksheets, digital classroom reports, and video tutorials to guide their planning. The program can be used in-person in schools, in blended contexts, or during at-home reinforcement. It is aligned with the national curriculum and has been integrated into hundreds of schools in coordination with regional education authorities.

How has it been spreading?

Apprendemos has been implemented nationally since 2020 through strong cooperation agreements with regional and local education offices, including direct collaboration with educational authorities and schools. In 2024, over 140,000 students and 10,000 teachers connected to the platform, demonstrating widespread adoption and growing trust in the program.

Regional workshops conducted in rural and urban hubs reinforced capacity building and offline-enabled content ensured uninterrupted access in low-connectivity areas, while continuous monitoring of platform metrics guides our regional authorities in recognizing usage trends and prioritizing support where it is most needed.

How have you modified or added to your innovation?

In response to feedback, our app has been continually improved to offer more interactive and engaging activities. This year, coinciding with the start of the school calendar, we released a completely renewed app featuring a redesigned library of interactive activities and enhanced analytics tools for teachers— changes driven directly by educator and student input.

Looking ahead, we will broaden our curriculum to incorporate literacy modules in both Spanish and Quechua, co-designed with bilingual intercultural education experts to meet the needs of diverse linguistic communities.

We will also enhance our impact evaluation processes, especially in rural areas, where access to educational resources can be more limited. By gathering detailed data on student performance, usage patterns, and teacher feedback, we plan to refine the program’s content and delivery, ensuring that it effectively meets the diverse needs of learners across different contexts.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

Apprendemos is freely accessible via www.apprendemos.com, where educators and institutions can register to obtain credentials for both the student app and the teacher portal. Comprehensive implementation guides, video tutorials and support materials are available online. For tailored deployment, data access or research partnerships, please contact the GRADE team at aprendemos@grade.org.pe.

Impact & scalability

Impact & Scalability

Apprendemos demonstrates clear national impact by closing math learning gaps through accessible, curriculum-aligned tools that serve both students and teachers. Its design enables scalability across low-resource settings, with further cultural and curricular adaptations unlocking potential for international reach.

HundrED Academy Reviews

Apprendemos improves math learning for over 140,000 students across Peru, with proven increases in engagement and confidence. Teachers use real-time data to tailor instruction, and weekly usage logs confirm consistent platform adoption in both rural and urban areas.

Thanks to its low-bandwidth design, regional partnerships, and alignment with Peru’s curriculum, Apprendemos is easily scalable. The platform’s adaptability, multilingual expansion, and free access position it for replication in other low-connectivity contexts
