YESfest

Youth Eco Summit Festivals - Do something good in your part of the planet

The climate emergency will have the greatest negative impact on the youngest in our society. Yet research shows that this generation of young people have the greatest disconnect with nature. YESfest is a series of youth festivals designed to deepen children's connection to nature and give them the knowledge, skills, enthusiasm and network to become climate activists in their own community.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

Too many children are disconnected to nature.
Our 'why' for this innovation is to reconnect them with the natural world and build communities of stewards of the planet. We see two key drivers for this. To address the youth mental pandemic and to ensure they gain the knowledge, skills, understanding and networks in order to become stewards of their part of the planet.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

1. In-person YESfest one and two day events combining the community engagement aspects of a fun festival and the core knowledge and skills exchange of an eco summit.

Up to six YESfest events per year in locations in the UK, the Americas, Asia and Europe :
With hybrid workshop and speaker contributions from young people across the world - and in-person youth delegates aged 8-10 from across the UK, supported by near-peer teen mentors and also community elders. These events are bespoke to each outdoor location & combine practical, hands-on workshops led by young people, nature-connection, communication workshops, knowledge exchanges & impact-story sharing from youth projects over the previous year.
2. Online Global Gatherings - 6x year global forums to gather, share, scale impact stories from local to global communities.
3. YESquests - a framework of actions and micro-credentials to enact care for self, community, planet in a structured engaging format. Microhabits to global actions

How has it been spreading?

Impact & scalability

Impact & Scalability

YESfest inspires 8–10-year-olds to become climate champions through joyful, hands-on festivals and quests that blend environmental action, wellbeing, and community. Active in six countries, its hybrid, open-source model enables low-cost, scalable participation and nurtures lasting youth-led climate stewardship.

HundrED Academy Reviews

YESfest has showcased meaningful global impact by using sustainability as a core focus and engaging diverse communities through knowledge sharing and advocacy. Their presence has not only inspired action but also fostered a responsibility.

Yesfest's cosmolocal approach-global knowledge exchange paired with hyper-local action makes the model culturally adaptable and context-specific, two key criteria for successful scale-up in education and activism. Low operational cost, open-source framework.
