About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

The book addresses the global education crisis. It proposes a step-by-step guide from traditional to innovative learning, where learners have autonomy and purpose, and where well-being is paramount. As a comprehensive manual, it provides tools, case studies, and strategies for transforming learning communities, ensuring all members thrive in a dynamic, supportive environment.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

This innovation is a guide to learning innovation that have been tried and tested by Learnlife over the last 7 years. Our work builds upon the successes of learning innovators worldwide. The Future Will Not Be Taught is a playbook for how to implement the Learnlife paradigm, which was recognized by HundrED in 2022. There are many theoretical texts that belabor the crisis in education, but very few that provide a window into how it can be done differently. The Future Will Not Be Taught walks you through the process of starting an innovative learning community or beginning to innovate in your classroom.

Evidence of its effectiveness comes from learner self-reports, which show over a 100% increase in over a dozen metrics related to learning and well-being such as confidence and creativity. Our learners are creative, effective communicators; collaborative changemakers; systems thinkers; resilient and agile; and lifelong learners.

How has it been spreading?

The Learnlife model, as highlighted in The Future Will Not Be Taught, is put into practice in our Barcelona hubs, gaining worldwide attention. We've trained nearly one thousand educators and created network of 30,000 learning innovators. Our most significant success, according to our learners and their families, is that our students thrive--they are happier, healthier, and more engaged than in previous learning environments. All graduates move on to pursue their passions, and feel prepared for what comes next. In the next few years, we aim to inspire 100,000 educators with The Future Will Not Be Taught, helping them tailor it to their contexts. We hope these educators join the Learnlife Alliance to champion the learning revolution.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

The book is the answer to this question. It is a training guide for innovative learning that provides guiding questions, implementation guides, case studies, and best practices. If you want to dive deeper, you can join the Learnlife Alliance and contact Learnlife. We can support you on your transformation journey.
