About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

The book addresses the global education crisis by offering an alternative to visiting Learnlife hubs. It guides the shift from traditional to innovative learning, where learners embrace autonomy and purpose. As a comprehensive manual, it provides tools, case studies, and strategies for transforming educational communities, ensuring all members thrive in a dynamic, supportive environment.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

The innovation is a playbook of innovations that have been tried and tested by Learnlife over the last 7 years. Our work builds upon the work of learning innovators worldwide over the last 90 years. Essentially, it is an implementation guide for the Learnlife paradigm, which was recognized by HundrED in 2022. The larger problem the book addresses is that there are many theoretical texts that belabor the crisis in education but very few that provide a window into how it can be done differently, and which guide you through the process of starting an innovative learning community or beginning to innovative in your classroom.

Evidence of its effectiveness comes from learner self-reports, which show over a 100% increase in learning and well-being metrics such as confidence and creativity. The model uses but does not depend on technology.

How has it been spreading?

The Learnlife model, as highlighted in The Future Will Not Be Taught, is put into practice in our Barcelona hubs, gaining worldwide attention. In the last couple of years, we've trained over 500 educators and connected with a network of 30,000. Our most significant success, according to our learners and their families, is how our students are thriving; they are happier, healthier, and more engaged than in previous learning environments. All graduates move on to pursue their passions, prepared for what comes next. In the next few years, we aim to inspire 100,000 educators with The Future Will Not Be Taught, helping them tailor it to their contexts. We hope these educators join the Learnlife Alliance to champion the learning revolution.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

The book answers all of these questions. It is a training guide for innovative learning that provides guiding questions, implementation guides, case studies, and best practices. If they want to dive deeper, they can join the Learnlife Alliance, and they can contact Learnlife who can help support them on their transformation journey.
