Street Racket - anyone, anytime, anywhere

location_on Switzerland

Learning through movement with racket and ball

Street Racket from Switzerland is a unique and versatile concept that provides sports and empowerment for all. We focus on active learning in motion and on making sports possible for everyone and everywhere. Kids benefit from social and fun learning in a low-threshold concept framework that intersects with the main school curricula. Street Racket also teaches many important soft skills.

We hope, Street Racket will improve schooling by making learning more fun for students, improving the efficiency of learning (for instance learning in movement and more O2 for the brain), supporting children's physical and mental health by bringing more exercise, and reducing time spent in front of screens. At the same time, qualities such as movement competence and social competence are trained.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

Children have a natural urge to move that needs to be encouraged. Nowadays, they spend too much time in front of the screen. For many, playing sports is too time-consuming and costly, and the motivation to play sports at all dwindles. Street Racket, on the other hand, is a low-threshold concept that requires no infrastructure, can be played anywhere, and costs very little, so the incentive is big.

How does your innovation work in practice?

Our concept has already been implemented in schools, sports clubs, refugee shelters (a inclusion project in Switzerland) and camps, prisons and many other places around the globe. Kids have more fun with movement and learn in combination with it. Also the well-being of all people in difficult life situations improves.
The simple rules ensure long rallies, a sense of achievement and belonging. The game promotes motor, coordination and social skills. The playing fields can be designed with chalk, tape, etc., both outdoors and indoors.
Our vision is to make sport and exercise as accessible as possible for everyone, promoting gender equality, acceptance of religions and cultures, intergenerational communication and integration.
No expensive investments are required and no infrastructure is needed.
We work according to the train-the-trainer method. We have a free, teaching and practice books, online certifications, an online curriculum, YouTube videos and virtual content platforms.

How has it been spreading?

Street Racket has already reached around 100 countries and moves thousands and thousands of people every day - in schools, in companies, in sports clubs, you name it. We receive almost daily requests from all around the world for collaborations, webinars, workshops and interviews.
The goal for the next 2-3 years is to spread the concept further and focus on schools and vulerable populations. We also want to make street racket a club and association sport to gain greater reach, especially in the field of kids sport promotion.
Our big goal is to help make the world a better place, a place full of playgrounds for our children and youths, a place of more joy, laughter and fair play. In our opinion, Street Racket is predestined for this.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

Get a racket (or something similar as a hitting device, also a school book, a cutting board...) and a ball! Draw your court in no time and play! Bring the healthy activity to your doorstep instead of having to travel somewhere and ensure zero waste, but pure fun. Become part of the Street Racket family. Impact & scalability

HundrED Academy Reviews
Nice! It does not have cultural barriers, such as language. We can use this anywhere, anytime, even in small rooms. It is possible to do it with all age groups! Nowadays there are ICT and technology learning trends, but it is easy, handy, and healthy.
An interesting, low resource game for all ages - its spread indicates the potential of where it can still go. I was interested to see some or even much of its spread is through word of mouth by those using the game.
