I created this innovation to create a ramp to adulthood for adolescents of today, who are being brought up in tumultuous times of today categorised by social media pressures, substance abuse, disintegration of families, extreme academic stress, unattainable beauty standards and more. I want them to feel empowered to overcome their issues, and feel supported in their struggles.
The innovation is an app which will be used by adolescents. They can watch content in the form of videos, written pieces, and short story audios. All of this content is about their everyday issues and problems, and it's been written, produced, as well as spoken out by adolescents. Furthermore, they can join communities based on specific issues and topics they are facing where they can meet and interact with other adolescents who are experiencing the same, which helps them feel more accompanied in their struggles.
We have a network of ambassadors in schools who are helping to spread the word, and we are planning on making more. To make ambassadors, I will use Instagram and linked-in to acquire ambassadors from unique schools ( 1 ambassador from 1 school). These ambassadors one selected will not only help in content development for the app but also get students from their school to use the app.
