Habilidades para el futuro

Foundational digital skills are key to start the digital educational journey.

The innovation course teaches digital skills to increase employability of vulnerable individuals. We aim to train trainers to replicate the course in different settings, reaching 2M people. Our objective is to build capacity internally, creating greater impact. A second version targets Latin American workers of different ages and fields who want to enhance their work skills through software.

The program's primary goal is to address the opportunity gap in Latin America through comprehensive training that provides digital, cognitive, and socio-emotional skills. Our objective is to promote learning and increase workforce inclusion, equipping participants to apply their skills in work and personal contexts. We aim to narrow the opportunity gap and create a more equitable society.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

The innovation responds to two global trends: digitalisation's rapid growth and increased teleworking due to Covid-19, as well as rising unemployment in LATAM caused by a shortage of people with required digital skills. The program aims to train trainers to teach new essential skills and help individuals adapt to the changing job market, pursue new career paths, and access new opportunities.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

The training program for trainees is delivered virtually and offers a 5-class course for participants to replicate the content of the "Habilidades para el futuro" course. Each class covers one unit, lasts for two hours and focuses on Data and Excel, Presentations and PowerPoints, Collaborative Word and MS Teams, Web design and Programming, and LinkedIn and Employability. During the course, participants will learn the key aspects of the content, the teaching methodology for replicating the course, and strategies for supporting participants, offering the materials to replicate the course later on.

Based on our satisfaction surveys to the participants, we know that 89% of participants indicated that they would recommend the program with a rating of 8 or higher out of 10. This showcases how the training program has been well-received by participants and appears to be effective in delivering valuable content and helping trainees acquire new skills.

How has it been spreading?

Since its launch in 2021, this program has made significant strides, reaching 15 countries and training over 14,000 individuals. This has had an indirect impact on over 1 million people, which is a remarkable achievement. Moreover, forming partnerships with over 65 organisations further highlights the program's success.

Looking forward, the program's focus on providing tools and resources to help 2 million working-age individuals in Latin America enhance their professional digital skills is impressive. By building capacity in local community trainers, the program can equip individuals with the skills needed to navigate the ever-evolving job market with greater confidence and preparation.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

If an organization/company is interested in our program, they should contact our Partnerships area by the mail of marina@eidosglobal.org. Then we would have a meeting to understand their particular needs and how to adapt the material for the audience.
If an individual is interested in being part of the innovation they should check our site in order to know when the calls for candidates are open.

Impact & scalability

HundrED Academy Reviews

Many educators do not have the required digital literacy skills to navigate the literacy landscapes. This issue is more alarming in underdeveloped and developing nations. This kind of innovation can help in bridging these gaps

The combination of the train-the-trainer model and the various partnerships in place create a foundation for scalability -- and the organisation has indeed realised scale by spreading to 14 countries and thousands of program users.

Implementation steps

Learning Approach for Trainers
For trainers, the goal of the program is to teach them how to effectively deliver the course materials to their own communities. This includes practicing the material during class and being encouraged to replicate the course content. We recommend setting aside 10 hours for studying the materials.
Learning Approach for Final Beneficiaries
Regarding final beneficiaries, we anticipate participants to benefit from both synchronous and asynchronous instances to learn the digital skills taught in the course. Afterwards, they can practice what was learned in class by doing the asynchronous exercises. These instances will guide participants to develop practical skills at work and include a minimum journey to familiarise with the tool or an extended journey with activities of varying difficulty, based on their goals and prior knowledge.
