Founded in 2015 by a teacher, a data scientist and an entrepreneur, Eedi School aims to close math achievement gaps, especially for marginalized students. Teachers often lack tools to diagnose misconceptions, so we developed one that reveals not just mistakes but underlying misunderstandings.
Eedi School is a flexible educational tool that teachers can use as a classroom resource or for homework assignments. The platform uses diagnostic questions specifically designed to test a single concept, with incorrect answers linked to common student misconceptions. This allows educators to go beyond just seeing what students got wrong, enabling them to understand why mistakes were made. With this data, teachers can target misunderstandings efficiently and use the insights to close learning gaps. A standout feature is the availability of human tutors, who are always on hand to help students, ensuring they receive support whenever they need it.
Building on this foundation, we've introduced an AI tutor to the mix. Early findings from collaborations with a frontier model provider show that students experience even greater learning gains when AI support is added alongside human tutoring.
This represents a paradigm shift from earlier models that combined machine learning, media, and human teacher support. We can now demonstrate that our human-in-the-loop AI tutor delivers improved results compared to our previously established gold-standard benchmarks. Rather than replacing teachers, this AI tutor strengthens the learning process by providing timely, personalized feedback, which allows educators to focus their expertise where it matters most.
Eedi School is a test bed program, largely based in the UK, where we work closely with schools to generate gold-standard evidence of measurable learning gains. By running rigorous trials in authentic classroom environments, we are able to identify what works, refine our approach, and build a strong foundation of trust with educators. Our latest independent study demonstrated a 0.17 standard deviation (Cohen’s d) improvement in math achievement, providing robust evidence of the impact our approach can have on student learning.
Once we identify an evidence of success in improving learning gains, we partner with market-leading education solutions to integrate our proven solution and intelligence layer into their existing platforms. This approach allows us to scale impact without requiring schools to adopt entirely new systems, making it easier and more sustainable for educators and students alike.
Through this model: evidence first, then scale through partnerships, we are steadily working toward our mission of demonstrating measurable learning gains for 1 billion children by 2030.
If you’d like to try our innovation, we’d love to hear from you!
For Schools: We’re always excited to welcome new schools into Eedi Schools, which is our test bed community. Right now, we’re working with schools in the UK and are looking to connect with schools in other regions, especially in the United States, India, Africa and Latin America. If you’d like to be part of shaping what the future of math learning and tutoring looks like, drop us a line at harriet.walters@eedi.com.
For Partners: We also love collaborating with EdTech providers, foundations, and governments who share our passion for making high-quality learning accessible to every child. If you’re curious about how our work with AI tutoring and intelligent learning solutions could fit into your existing platforms or initiatives, reach out to us at hello@eedi.com.
We look forward to exploring how we can learn from each other and build something impactful together.
