Rooted in Fundación ProEd’s 20+ years of experience in teacher development, this global PLC is grounded in equity and evidence, empowering educators—wherever they are—to improve learning outcomes through community and care.

Through ProEd Global PLC, I hope to build a professional learning community that truly unites teachers as leaders—across schools, borders, and backgrounds. A space where educators feel empowered to strengthen their practice, advance student learning, and walk into their classrooms knowing: my voice matters, and my impact is real. Simply stated: Joy in teaching. Joy in learning.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

ProEd Global PLC was born from a deep need: the urgent call for equitable, high-impact professional learning—not just for some teachers, but for all teachers, regardless of where they live, what language they speak, or how many resources they have access to.
After more than 20 years of training teachers across Panama, Fundación ProEd recognized a pattern: even the most motivated educators often worked in isolation, lacked access to sustained coaching, and struggled to implement evidence-based strategies in dynamic, diverse classrooms. While in-person training made a difference, its reach was limited by geography and funding.
We created ProEd Global PLC to break those barriers—connecting teachers through a cross-border, multilingual, digital platform that builds community, shares proven methodologies, and fosters collective problem-solving. This innovation ensures that:
Real classroom challenges are tackled with real solutions, co-created by peers who understand the context.
Teachers have ongoing access to professional learning, not just a one-time workshop.
Instructional practice evolves, informed by data, evidence, and mutual care.
It’s not just about sharing challenges—it's about elevating pedagogy, building confidence and capacity, and reaffirming that every teacher deserves the tools, trust, and training to transform lives.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

The ProEd Global PLC follows a yearlong, evidence-informed model of professional learning, structured around three key phases—launch, midyear reflection, and end-of-year synthesis. This arc supports sustained pedagogical growth, aligned with the academic calendar.
The PLC experience is anchored by a combination of:
• Monthly coach-led sessions that introduce and deepen evidence-based instructional practices.
• Weekly peer-led check-ins, fostering collaborative inquiry, professional accountability, and emotional support.
• Midpoint and final cycles of reflection, where teachers evaluate progress, share adaptations, and refine classroom applications.
This structure balances facilitated content delivery with peer-driven discourse, enabling teachers to integrate theory into practice and cultivate a community of trust, reflection, and growth throughout the school year.

How has it been spreading?

ProEd has Spread—Organically and Intentionally
What began as a Panama-rooted innovation is already expanding organically. As more teachers, school leaders, and institutions experience ProEd training methodology, they share it across networks—public and private, local and regional.
• Alumni are replicating PLC structures in their own schools, both formally and informally.
• ProEd-trained coaches are being invited to mentor across districts.
• NGOs and education organizations have initiated conversations to adapt the model to their own contexts.
The seeds of expansion are already planted— and the educational moment is right!
Educators across the region are seeking community. Post-pandemic, the need for connection, professional growth, and emotional support is greater than ever—especially among teachers in resource-constrained settings.
ProEd Global PLC offers what many education systems lack:

How have you modified or added to your innovation?

At Fundación ProEd, continuous improvement is a core value—not just a practice. All of our programs, from LECTO LABS to ProEd Global PLC, are designed as flexible, evolving ecosystems that grow in response to real-time feedback, classroom realities, and system-wide needs.
We track learning outcomes, classroom impact, and implementation fidelity through pre/post assessments, coaching rubrics, and teacher reflection tools. These insights guide refinements to pacing, content, and delivery—ensuring learning is not only deep, but relevant and actionable.
Teacher feedback is embedded throughout the training cycles, with reflection sessions, surveys, and peer discussions informing our learning. By listening to those closest to the classroom, we ensure our programs remain authentic, responsive, and empowering.
As we expand into a regional and global PLC, our dynamic model helps us scale without losing context. Continuous improvement allows us to honor local realities while maintaining global coherence and quality.
ProEd modifies its programs not because they’re incomplete, but because learning never stops—and neither do we.
