World Savvy wants to rekindle a belief in what’s possible. We want to breathe new energy into the idea that education should drive us to think and act in the interests of a wider local and global community, and inspire us to leave the world better than how we found it. We want to provide a spark of imagination that can set alight students’ creativity, passion, and leadership.

About the innovation

World Savvy educates and engages youth to learn, work, and thrive as responsible global citizens.

World Savvy is a national nonprofit educating and preparing youth with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions for success and active engagement in the global community. World Savvy’s approach to learning is based on the belief that students learn best when they are engaged in relevant and important issues that impact their communities and the world. We believe that students’ lived experiences and perspectives are assets that can be leveraged in learning every day.

As our country becomes more diverse, the global economy becomes more interconnected, and our collective challenges become increasingly complex and borderless, a new kind of teaching and learning is required to prepare the next generation.

That’s why, through our Comprehensive School Partnerships, we’re empowering educators and school leaders to make school inclusive, relevant, and engaging for all students, inspiring them to learn, work, and thrive as responsible global citizens.

Our Four Guiding Principles:

Cultivating Connections: We identify and nurture connections to make learning personal and relevant.

Promoting Active, Interdisciplinary Learning: We build global competence through active learning experiences across disciplines.

Fostering Knowledge-to-Action: We support students to take informed action in their communities and world.

Reflecting & Adapting: We engage in ongoing reflection and adapt to emergent needs.

Impact & scalability

HundrED Academy Reviews

It has key principles of universal interest in a learning ecosystem that makes its spread and adaptability. It provides a tool that helps learners connect, share and collaborate joining efforts to solve global problems.

This programme talks about what they will do but not how it would be done to promote inclusion and equality as such is not impactful in action.

Implementation steps

Leadership Cohort
World Savvy’s Leadership Cohorts provide education leaders with the time, space, and thought partnership they need to think deeply about how global competence can and should live in their schools and districts. Using our frameworks and resources, we help leaders consider the structural changes and supports that teachers, students, families, and school buildings will need in order to embed global competence into teaching, learning, and school culture in future years.
Year One
Through workshops, 1:1 coaching, and ongoing reflection and adaptation, Year One of World Savvy partnership focuses on Cultivating Connections: We identify and nurture connections to make learning personal and relevant.
What this looks like in the classroom:
Personalizing learning to center students' strengths, needs, and interests,
Emphasizing connections across issues and subjects,
Exploring and nurturing connections across identities.
Constructing meaningful opportunities for collaboration
Year Two
Year Two focuses on Promoting Active, Interdisciplinary Learning: We build global competence through active learning across disciplines.
What this looks like in the classroom:
Cultivating spaces where students can be curious, challenge assumptions, and seek multiple perspectives,
Engaging in learning that builds critical and creative thinking skills and provides exposure to multiple perspectives,
Creating scaffolds that help students develop their own questions, lead research, and collaborate.
Year Three
In Year Three, we focus on Fostering Knowledge to Action: We support students to take informed action in their communities and world.
What this looks like in the classroom:
Providing opportunities to research global and local challenges and potential solutions, facilitating action-focused learning,
Illustrating the connections between global issues and local communities,
Making explicit the connections between understanding and action.
