We aspire to improve the quality of art education in Southeast Asian schools by providing specialised programmes that address the needs of Southeast Asian communities, creating safe spaces for open discussions, self-expression, and creation in Southeast Asian communities. We harness the intrinsic cultural value of Southeast Asian heritage to support their creative economies and ecosystems.
Commissioned by the Singapore International Foundation, the WoW SEA Art Programme consists of three programmes: the Art Programme, Volunteer Training Programme and Online Training Programme; to support volunteers and educators on their teaching journey in the post-pandemic world. We apply three core teaching methodologies: Visual Thinking, Social Emotional Learning and Experiential Learning, to provide a holistic framework toward harnessing the capacities and creativities of young learners and the communities that care for them.
We successfully trained 17 high value volunteer art facilitators, through which we were able to conduct the Words on Wheels Southeast Asian Art Programme online to 500 children in 10 high needs schools in Indonesia during the pandemic, in the past year. The low cost art programme, delivered both in English and Bahasa Indonesia, is designed for high needs learners between the ages of 7 to 11.
