We created this innovation because we saw that digital learning in schools was failing to deliver real impact. Many schools received computers, but usage remained extremely low. Equipment broke down and was never repaired. Teachers lacked confidence, leadership support was inconsistent, and computer rooms often stayed locked. The problem was not the technology — it was the absence of systems, ownership, and skills needed to sustain digital learning in the long term.
Our innovation was designed to fix this gap. The Lyra Community of Practice (CoP) Model empowers schools to fully own and manage their digital learning environment through ICT committees, teacher peer-learning groups, student ICT clubs, leadership support structures, and community engagement. By strengthening the whole school ecosystem, the model ensures that computers are used regularly, maintained properly, integrated into teaching, and supported by both staff and the community.
We created this approach to turn technology from a one-time donation into a sustainable learning asset that improves student skills, supports teacher confidence, and leads to long-term digital literacy outcomes—regardless of where the school is located or how many resources it has.
