Children as co-authors

Cultural Inquiry has created a seed book titled "The Blue Whale Park: A Story of Hope," where each chapter is unfinished, so children and young people can expand it as they want. We challenge the concept of one single adult authoring. We are sharing the book in museums, schools, libraries, etc, to spark the co-creation process. With all the children's feedback, we will publish a new book.

Implementation steps

First encounter with the book
The teacher read a chapter to the children. She/he can not add anything.
Creativity Invitation
She/he will invite the children to continue the story as they decide (by writing, drawing, making something with materials, dancing, etc).
Sharing the findings
Children will share their creations using them as a starting point to do something more (an exhibition, a theater representation, a blog, etc). These outcomes will be recorded and commented on to share with the book author.
