About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

Many in community like ours are faced with the challenges of 21st century in poverty, hunger, gender equality, access to quality education, clean water and sanitation, clean energy, peace among others. The 17 SDGs were envisage by world leaders with specific actions and targets to address these challenges. Despite this, many underserved communities are still left out of this sustainable journey.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

Many in developed countries or communities have queued in in the journey for a sustainable future, with students creating global impacts and teachers forming global community, exchanging ideas and resources to build global citizens. Countries like Australia have incorporate environmental education into their curriculum. This is happening in many other communities that are living up to expectation, and contributing immensely towards a sustainable future. i believe this can happen in my community too given equal opportunity, one global world with the same or one objective - to create peaceful and sustainable future for all.

How has it been spreading?

Apart from joining the global schools community, we trained and formed students SDGs ambassadors, and peers-to-peers educators, network on continuous basis to carry on the spirit of the program, giving students voices and agency for a sustainable future, engages in school wide programs and activities. over the year spreading the messages round schools community, and engaging in healthy competitions through project-based learning. Moreover, we are on course to creating and institutionalizing sustainable leadership center for young students in schools, and engage in training teachers on how to integrate education for sustainable development into their topics or curriculum, also calling on stakeholders to incorporate environmental education in our schools Curriculum.
