Nagpur had 11 vibrant lakes which dried out in last 50 years ,hence the need to save this urban lake which is home to many birds, animals and reducing the urabn heat of the city. It is an exercise to sdg 6 .The Clean Water SDG refers to Sustainable Development Goal 6, which aims to ensure universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water and sanitation for all by 2030. This goal also focuses on improving water quality by reducing pollution and increasing water-use efficiency, protecting water-related ecosystems, and implementing integrated water management and transboundary cooperation
It has generated a lot of curiosity that students have become active community leaders to work for the society rather than passive citizens. They took the initiative to clean the pavement next to the lake and coerce te citizens to care for the lake which belongs to the people.NGOs came forward to support the cause and helped us in our good thought .The lake retained its cleanliness even during the festival time and people did enjoy their festival without making the lake polluted like yester years .It was a challenge but the efforts to work towards sdg 6 was worth it.
There has been a conscious effort now , by the citizen not to throw waste or trash into the lake water. There is a remarkable change in the attitude of the citizens because it was a cause by the children of the city to save their lake.. Despite the school hours , the students worked along with the NGOs to help immerse the idols in the artificial ponds made by the Municipal corporation.
You should contact the municipal corporation or the authorities of your city and make them aware of the efforts to save any of your cities lake .Study the cause of lake eutrofication and analyse the water sample to study the oxygen content, biomass and later take support of community agencies to fulfil the project.
