Working towards a safer and better Bangladesh

Imagine losing 272,000 lives every year to something as basic as unsafe water. In Bangladesh, this devastating reality occurs daily. Which is why we launched project EcoWave! Which is dedicated to raising awareness through social media and our research based journal and conducting clean ups around the water bodies of Bangladesh, In the future we will create an IOT system to assist with clean ups.

Through Project EcoWave we wish to see youth globally learn about the affects of Water pollution in the world and how it specifically effect the lower socio -economic community robbing families from their health and livelihoods. We would also hope to inspire hope and be a source of inspiration to all the youth in the world so that they can all stand up to take a stand against climate change.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

The main purpose of creating this innovation was as young citizen's of Bangladesh and the next generation of future leaders, through this innovation our team wishes to showcase our concerns and actions to address the devastating state of Bangladesh's water bodies. So that we can truly say and believe that Project EcoWave will always be working towards a safer and better Bangladesh.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

Project EcoWave is an non-profit youth female lead organization, based on raising awareness and taking tangible actions towards the distressed state of Bangladesh’s water bodies. Project EcoWave is a part of The World Around Young Climate Prize Cohort 2024, which is an New York, USA based organization, which provides mentorship and weekly design academies to help Project EcoWave and gain traction. Project EcoWave has a soft-launch website and a social media account to spread awareness. Project EcoWave also has routine clean ups in lakes and rivers such as the Dhanmondi Lake. Project EcoWave aims for healthier water bodies in Bangladesh. Project EcoWave is making plans to create an IOT system which helps us extensive clean up the waterbodies of Bangladesh.

How has it been spreading?

Project EcoWave started off as a soft launch website which included article and self- tutoring videos which were available worldwide. Our website has proof of the scientific water test we conducted to asses the severity of the pollution level in Bangladesh. Through this online media outlets Project EcoWave has gained national and international attention, in the second phase we have conducted tangible clean-ups with the help of NGOs with gained attention from various media outlets which covered our movement as well as encouraged community engagement and inspired hope among the younger demographic, letting the world know that there are young individual capable of doing such work for the environment and for Bangladesh.

To try to help Project EcoWave there are 2 methods:

Make sure to take the time to find out about the state of the water bodies in your country and spread awareness! Now listed in our post you will find our research journal which is essentially a website, complete with an article with connection SDG 6,13 and14, self tutoring videos and results of scientific tests we have conducted to find the quality of water. If you do not live in Bangladesh, you have a unique opportunity to spread Project EcoWave to the rest of the world ! Learn about the water pollution levels and the water bodies of your country, when you think you have adequate research please reach out to us so that we can add a section about your country in our website and become a more pluralistic innovation!
