Following years as a early years physical development and play-based specialist, I looked to bring all of my knowledge, experience and tools into one accessible place.
I researched many curriculums and children's needs internationally, both when writing my book- Learning through movement and active play in the early years, published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers and as part of the team who wrote the Cambridge early years curriculum. This research led me to identified how I could support teachers and parents/carers around the world through technology.
Minmoov is an online toolbox of pathways, training modules, ideas and knowledge/tips with a focus on physical development and play-based approaches to support the learning and development of children from 3 years to 7 years old, including those with SEND.
Users can choose how the programme will work best for them, however, we encourage them to first complete the 2 pathways- specific programmes of training, tools and resources to equip them to support children to learn and develop holistically through movement and play.
The user accesses the programme though the Minmoov website and will find the following areas:
Physical Development Pathway
Play-based Pathway
Top Tips
Active Stories
Mini Yo! (yoga-based)
Active Skills
ABC'S (Agility, Balance, Coordination, Spatial Awareness)
Adult Led
Child Directed
Maths
Language
PSED
Move to Music
Mountain Movers
CPD
Most of the users have engaged in either in-person, online, or blended training and as part of this, they have access to the Minmoov toolbox.
Although Minmoov was founded in 2022, it is still early in its journey due to initial research and development.
I have provided various charities, such as Tanzania Early Childhood Education and Care (TECEC) free access to the programme in order for us to develop it in the context of Sub Saharan African accesibility.
The programme initially had a focus purely on physical development, however, through work with partner schools, the play-based focus has been developed further, with the introduction of the Play-based pathway.
There is an ongoing process of adding new resources, tools and ideas, allowing for Minmoov to become a toolbox that consists of a wealth of knowledge and ideas to support children's development through play.
Minmoov took part in the Educate Ventures Accelerator, a programme delivering by University College London. We completed the EdWards1, where we developed the Logic Model and Research Proposal. Unfortunately, the accelerator closed before Minmoov was able to complete the research. We are now in the process of applying for to other research programmes.
You are able to sign up on the website - www.minmoov.com
