In Ukraine, access to quality education is deeply unequal, particularly for students from rural areas, low-income families, and children in institutional care. Each year, approximately 300,000 students take the National Multi-Subject Test (NMT), which determines university admission. Yet research by CEDOS, Vox Ukraine, and the 2022 PISA National Report shows a direct correlation between academic success and socio-economic status. For example, only 3.5% of rural students and 10% of those in state-run institutions achieve high scores. Students in cities often perform at a level equal to 4–5 additional years of schooling compared to their rural peers.
This persistent inequality creates a systemic barrier to higher education. Quality tutoring and preparatory resources are largely unaffordable for the most vulnerable. Without support, these students face reduced life chances — not because of lack of ability, but because of lack of access.
iLearn was created by Osvitoria to change that.
iLearn functions as a virtual classroom, combining the best of formal and informal learning. Registered students can:
1) Attend live webinars led by top-rated Ukrainian teachers who specialize in NMT subjects and have a track record of preparing students with 195+ scores;
2) Watch on-demand video lessons across key subjects including Ukrainian language, math, history, English, biology, and chemistry;
3) Take interactive practice tests and use a custom-built NMT simulator based on real past exams;
4) Join career orientation sessions, educational challenges, and even thematic quests designed to boost motivation and deepen understanding.
All features are free of charge, mobile-friendly, and accessible without special hardware. Students can study anytime, at their own pace, through the website or via iLearn’s YouTube channel.
A typical learner — say, a student in a small village with no access to quality tutoring — can log into iLearn from a smartphone, watch a video lesson on Ukrainian literature, attend a live math session in the evening, and take a self-graded test right afterward. This flexibility and structure are critical, especially during wartime when many students are displaced or learning asynchronously.
The platform first emerged from a volunteer Skype tutoring project in a orphanage, where participants went on to earn full scholarships to a top Kyiv university. This success caught the attention of stakeholders, and with the support of Enactus, Coca-Cola, iLearn was scaled into a national digital platform in 2018.
Since then hundreds of teachers across Ukraine use and recommend iLearn to their students. Since its launch in 2018, iLearn has become a trusted and essential educational resource for 272,000+ registered learners. Regular webinars foster a sense of community and allow students to share the platform with peers. With over 141,000+ subscribers, the iLearn YouTube channel helps the platform reach new learners daily.
During the full-scale Russian invasion, iLearn’s quick shift to NMT-aligned content and flexible formats made it one of the few stable education tools — accelerating its spread during a national crisis.
In the 2023/2024 academic year alone, iLearn held 110 live webinars across core subjects and reached approximately 11% of all NMT applicants. For 2024/2025, as of May 2025, over 8.3% of registered NMT test-takers have already signed up on the platform.
iLearn aims to become the leading educational platform in Ukraine, providing equal access to quality NMT/ZNO preparation for every student. This includes developing mobile applications for easier access and personalized learning paths based on AI.
Simply go to ilearn.org.ua and create a free account. The platform is open to all Ukrainian students and teachers, especially those preparing for national exams (NMT and DPA).
Once registered, you’ll have access to interactive courses, video lessons, quizzes, and live sessions with experienced tutors. You can learn at your own pace or join scheduled activities. No payment or special access code is required — iLearn is completely free of charge.
