About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

I grew up with my Mum. She was forced in to marriage at a young age. And she gave birth at the age of 11. Despite her love for school. When she tried going back to school her fellow students laughed at her making her feel a shamed and forcing her to withdraw.

All this was because of Teenage pregnancy. And as at GCA We believe that the only way to solve the challenge of Teenage pregnancy is to cut the roots of ignorance. So we empower young girls through our GCA LEARNER'S HANDBOOK such that they don't have to go through what my mum went through.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

GCA LEARNER’S HANDBOOK Is an informative and interactive book designed to introduce young girls to the most important information they need to thrive in life. It has over 12 topics from Confidence and Self-Esteem to financial literacy, going down to Skilling its a cocktail.

How has it been spreading?

We have a great Team that we are working with.. We have partners who have helps us create more networks . We have exhausted it at different international programs. Our last being in Nairobi Kenya. At the Education Changemakers Conference held at KU. And we will be heading to Rwanda Next week. Still to talk about the same product.

How have you modified or added to your innovation?

Ooh. We had the first draft having different designs. Until we had to receive feed from different people and later on build the exact book that learners will relate to.

We also managed to create GCA LEARNER'S HANDBOOK ( ONLINE PLATFORM) this acts as a learning management system where learners can still get to find the same information.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

Reach out to our Team on girlscorridor@gmail.com or check us out on our website www.girlscorridorafrica.org we will be very happy to take you through.
