Edraak was created in response to the emergence of widely available online education through platforms like Coursera and edX. However, an absence of high quality and relevant content online in Arabic language meant that most of the Arab world's youth could not access critical skills and learning opportunities available.
Edraak's courses, all connected to key market skills and available in Arabic language through Arab thought leaders and subject matter experts and key to bridging the skills and competency gap across the MENA region. All Edraak's courses area free to access, complete and get certified, removing a key financial and access barrier for millions of youth, refugees and the region's unbanked population.
Marketing and outreach but primarily word of mouth has driven Edraak's growth to 10 million registered users in 2025, with over 800,000 active users logging on each month. The COVID-19 pandemic drove millions of near users to the platform, during school and work shutdown and remote learning and working.
Edraak is free to register through on its online platform at www.edraak.org as well as through the mobile app available on the Google Play and iOS App Store.
