I created Ecobuildher to empower marginalized women with sustainable building skills, breaking poverty cycles, fostering financial independence, and promoting eco-friendly construction for community development.
In practice, Ecobuildher is a hands-on training program that equips marginalized women—single mothers, widows, and vulnerable women—with sustainable building skills. The program operates in Egbedi Community, where women learn eco-friendly construction techniques using locally sourced materials like clay, bamboo, and compressed earth bricks. They are trained in energy-efficient building methods, water conservation, and waste reduction strategies, ensuring environmentally responsible construction.
Training sessions are structured into theory and practical modules, where participants gain both technical skills and entrepreneurial knowledge. Women engage in on-site building projects, constructing affordable, sustainable homes and community structures. They also receive mentorship and business development training through partnerships with SMEDAN and the Nigeria Export Promotion Council, helping them start businesses, secure contracts, or form cooperatives.
Ecobuildher has been spreading through community engagement, partnerships, and success stories. It started in Egbedi Community, where word-of-mouth and visible construction projects attracted interest from women seeking financial independence. Our graduates become ambassadors, inspiring others to join.
Strategic partnerships with organizations like SMEDAN and the Nigeria Export Promotion Council have expanded outreach, providing entrepreneurship training and market access. Social media, workshops, and advocacy at community events have also boosted awareness.
Through train-the-trainer programs, skilled women replicate the model in new locations, scaling impact.
