About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

We created the Dream of Completing School (DOCS) program to address the exacerbated dropout rates during and post-COVID-19 in India. The pandemic has widened educational disparities, making it crucial to provide targeted support that ensures every child can continue their education uninterrupted, fostering resilience and equitable learning opportunities in a post-pandemic world.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

The Dream of Completing School (DOCS) program in India addresses the pervasive issue of dropout rates exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic through a comprehensive approach. It begins with rigorous identification and assessment of at-risk students, followed by intensive family counseling to secure parental support for re-enrollment. For students returning to traditional schooling or opting for distance learning, personalized academic support is provided, supplemented by ongoing case management and community engagement efforts. By equipping teachers with effective assessment tools and promoting awareness within communities, DOCS aims to ensure every child has the opportunity to complete their education, fostering resilience and equitable learning outcomes nationwide.

How has it been spreading?

The Dream of Completing School (DOCS) program began in Madhya Pradesh with a focused approach to reduce dropout rates by providing tailored interventions such as student assessments, family counseling, and academic support. Its success in improving educational outcomes led to rapid expansion across 14 states in India, facilitated by strategic partnerships with local governments, schools, and community organizations. Through training sessions, awareness campaigns, and continuous evaluation, DOCS has effectively adapted its model to diverse regional needs, demonstrating scalability and impact in promoting equitable access to education and empowering communities nationwide.
