About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

In order to develop 21st Century Skills among students viz. Communication, Creativity, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Curation and Digital Citizenship; I introduced Flipped classroom approach in teaching-learning using ICT tools. The flipped Classroom approach allowed my students to use the Technology/Gadgets and Internet judiciously and created a healthy learning environment in the classroom.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

Educator introduce a topic in the class and divide the students into groups. The students are also sensitized about exploring the right e-content while taking care of the copyright issues and licensing, to develop Digital Citizenship among the students. The students start their team work and individual team member take responsibility to contribute as per his or her forte. All the team members explore & develop relevant e-content pertaining to the sub-topic assigned to their group through communication and curation. Then, students work their way out to figure out the possible solutions to the problem by critical thinking and apply their creativity with fellow students. Further, the students work in collaboration on the common platform created for the sub-topic assigned to their group. Educator monitors the progress and act as a facilitator to the students during the entire process. Eventually, students presented their findings and extend theit learning through Educator's feedback.

How has it been spreading?

I implemented Collaborative Flipped classroom approach in my classroom teaching in 2019-20. The idea was to inclucate the key 21st century skills among students through their increased engagement in the classroom and to make them futur ready. The pedagogical approach has been really beneficial in terms of effective students' engagement and it has also provided me the extra time to identify & bridge the gap between bright and supportive learners.
My future plan are to take the approach outside the four walls of my classroom and give my students the requisite exposure by empowering them to exhibit their skills on public or collaborative platforms.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

Explore few creative ICT tool which should allow students to collaborate Online. Train your students to use the tool first. Then map your curriculum with the tool. Finally, empower your students to unleash their creative potential using ICT.
You may pick any Collaborative ICT tool like Wakelet, Flipgrid, Adobe Spark etc.
