Through Career 360 Degree, education empowers students to make informed, aptitude-aligned career choices. Teachers become mentors, parents supportive partners, and students gain clarity, confidence, and agency. The model fosters equity, lifelong learning, and future readiness, transforming schools into ecosystems where students shape their careers and make meaningful contributions to society.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

I created Career 360 Degree to address a critical gap in Indian education: despite NEP 2020’s mandate, most schools, especially in Tier-2 and Tier-3 regions, lacked structured career guidance. I observed students making life-altering decisions based on incomplete information, parental pressure, or guesswork. Teachers, though passionate, were unequipped to mentor effectively. The 18-month pilot at Delhi Public School Bilaspur trained 22 teachers, assessed 90+ students using psychometrics, conducted personalized counselling, and engaged 64 parents. AI-enabled tools introduced students to 550+ careers, bridging textbooks and emerging professions. Monthly teacher learning communities ensured sustained growth. Early adoption by neighboring schools and national recognition through APCCI and IC3 validated the model’s scalability and impact. I created this innovation to empower students with clarity, confidence, and informed choices; equip teachers with professional capacity; involve parents constructively; and build a culturally rooted, sustainable, school-led system that promotes equity, lifelong learning, and meaningful participation in the workforce and society.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

In practice, Career 360 Degree is a teacher-led, school-based career counselling ecosystem implemented at Delhi Public School Bilaspur over 18 months (Jan 2023–Jun 2024). Twenty-two teachers underwent 40 hours of training, learning psychometric assessment interpretation, career-linked pedagogy, and digital mentoring. Ninety students completed assessments on aptitude, interests, personality, learning style, and motivation, followed by three 45-minute one-on-one counselling sessions per student. Sixty-four parents participated in workshops, aligning expectations and building trust in evidence-based guidance. Monthly teacher learning communities foster professional growth and collaborative problem-solving. AI-enabled tools introduced students to 550+ careers, bridging textbooks and emerging professions. In practice, teachers integrate career conversations into lessons, students explore personalized pathways, parents support informed choices, and schools cultivate a culture of guidance. Neighboring schools have adapted the model, demonstrating scalability. The innovation is sustainable, equitable, and culturally rooted, ensuring students make informed, confident, and future-ready decisions while empowering teachers and families to participate meaningfully.

How has it been spreading?

Career 360 Degree has been spreading organically and strategically since its pilot at Delhi Public School Bilaspur (Jan 2023–Till date). The modular, teacher-led design allows schools to adopt the model without reliance on external counsellors. Two neighboring schools in Bilaspur have already implemented adapted versions, demonstrating scalability across different contexts. Teachers trained in the programme share best practices through professional learning communities, webinars, and workshops, creating peer-to-peer knowledge transfer. National recognition through APCCI and membership with IC3 has expanded visibility, connecting local practice to broader networks. Publications of teacher training modules and case studies are planned for wider dissemination. The innovation spreads by empowering teachers as local champions, enabling schools to integrate career guidance into existing routines, and using AI-driven tools to make information accessible to students in Tier-2 and Tier-3 regions. Its combination of evidence-based methods, parental engagement, and technology ensures replication is practical, sustainable, and culturally appropriate, fostering equity in career guidance across communities.

How have you modified or added to your innovation?

Since its pilot, Career 360 Degree has been continuously refined to enhance effectiveness, scalability, and contextual relevance. Initially focused on teacher training and student assessments, we expanded the programme to include structured parental engagement, recognising that family influence is critical in career decision-making. AI-enabled tools covering 550+ professions were integrated to expose students to emerging and non-traditional careers, bridging the gap between textbooks and evolving workplaces. Teacher Learning Communities were formalized into monthly professional forums, fostering collaborative problem-solving and continuous capacity building. Assessment modules were adapted for diverse learning styles and emotional intelligence, ensuring personalised guidance for each student. The framework’s modularity allows neighbouring schools to implement the programme with minimal adaptation, demonstrating flexibility across public, private, rural, and semi-urban contexts. Longitudinal tracking and feedback loops were added to monitor student outcomes over time, enabling data-driven improvements. Overall, the innovation has evolved into a sustainable, culturally rooted, and scalable model that empowers teachers, students, and parents while remaining adaptable to local needs.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

If you want to try Career 360 Degree, begin by recognizing that the foundation of the programme is teacher-led capacity building. Start by selecting a group of committed teachers who are willing to undergo structured training in career development principles, psychometric assessment interpretation, career-linked pedagogy, and digital mentoring tools. Next, assess your students using validated psychometric tools covering aptitude, interests, personality, learning style, emotional intelligence, and motivators. Train teachers to interpret these assessments not as labels, but as conversation starters for personalised guidance. Schedule one-on-one counselling sessions for students to explore emerging careers, align streams and subjects to their strengths, and develop multi-year roadmaps. Engage parents through workshops to align expectations, build trust in evidence-based guidance, and create a supportive ecosystem. Establish monthly Teacher Learning Communities to sustain professional growth, share case studies, and adapt practices collaboratively. Integrate AI-enabled career databases to expose students to 500+ careers and relevant higher education pathways. Start small, document outcomes, adapt for your school context, and gradually scale. With commitment, structured steps, and technology support, you can create an equitable, sustainable, and culturally rooted career guidance model in your school.
