The way we teach is broken. With a focus on telling & not involving, school systems are reaping low learning outcomes. Post-COVID school shutdowns caused learning setbacks that may cause students to face a 10% loss in future yearly earnings. I built Breshna to improve learning outcomes by empowering teachers & students as creators of edu games & involve students in making their own learning tools.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

Video games are powerful educational tools. The impact they leave on our brain far transcends the virtual boundary in which we play them. I see an opportunity to leverage this power for learning gains but making games is costly, complicated & clunky. I am committed to harnessing emerging tech like no-code to level the playing field & democratize educational content creation.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

Educational games in Arabic and personalized learning games aligned with specific curricula are nowhere to be found in the App Store, but can be made and shared in a few minutes for free with Breshna.

These are some examples of how Breshna.io is being used in classrooms globally:

* Students are challenged to create their own video games as an assignment/homework to capture what they learnt in class
* Teachers are creating custom video games to replace quizzes & tests
* Educators are partnering with Breshna to co-create libraries of custom video games mapped against learning objectives
* Teachers are leveraging breshna as a platform for project-based learning

Games can be played on any smart device and are sharable with a simple URL, which allows for cost- & time-effective use and distribution. We have partnered with global school systems like Beaconhouse and Roots: The Millennium Education that are looking to unleash the power of student-created video games for interactive learning.

How has it been spreading?

For educators & learners, Breshna has become a tool for creating games that are both fun & interactive. The Ambassador model is key here; we incentivize teachers who are already using Breshna to spread the word. They become our champions, showcasing their own games to fellow teachers. This is complemented by the flywheel of content creation, where teachers' creations inspire students to craft their own games, creating a self-sustaining cycle of engagement and innovation.

It has been highly successful, as we have garnered 175K registered game makers who have made 160K+ games with over 2M game play clicks.
