PLAY AND CREATIVITY FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF UNIVERSAL AND INCLUSIVE LEARNING

As a result of a systematic work in different communities, territories in Chile and abroad, plus researches and measurements so far, and the positive results seen, we have established clearly the three fundamental axes of our methodology: BODY, SOUND and BOND. These are the pillars that articulate, sustain and shape our methodological core, which allow us to create our innovative programs

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

In 2010 we had an impressive experience that revealed to us the potential of Sound and Deep Listening in terms of transformation and development of new language codes. We added Body and Bond as central axes and we created our inclusive methodology. We currently work with teachers, parents and caregivers with Special Needs providing a big spectrum of skills for their integral development.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

Our practice provides a wide range of skills that enhance the development and awareness of the body, as well as the activation of the auditory system (vestibular and proprioceptive syst). Both axes together with the development of a bond of trust, allow us to create other codes of language, which in the short term enhances the integrity of people regardless of their condition. Increasing social and emotional skills, the relationship with one's body and the environment in which we find ourselves. Our practice does not need technology, we work with the basics and elements of everyday life. As a result of the pandemic, we managed to adapt some of our programmes, using platforms like Zoom, WhatsApp, YT and social networks. The great value of our innovation is that it is flexible and adapts to the needs of each target audience. We have tested the methodology with all kind of people (early childhood, autism, teachers, parents and caregivers) achieving important results in all of them.

How has it been spreading?

In the last years we developed our own Manual to scale up our methodology and deliver it to nursery teachers, parents and caregivers. We are part of international networks: Grupo Interdisciplinar de Educación & Inclusión (GIEI) with professionals from Spain, Italy, Brazil, Colombia, Mozambique and Chile, PlayFutures from the LEGO Foundation, Hidden Giants, Scotland and Multinclude, EU. All this, together with nonstop work and research, has allowed us to expand and take our project to different parts of the world. In pandemic we were forced to adapt our work and test the first experiences of online training. This is how two highly successful products were born, and for the first time we are in the process of scaling up our project and taking our methodology to different parts of the world.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

There is nothing better than knowing that someone wants to incorporate our methodology in their context. We have been preparing for that to happen, today we have our Online Network platform, freely accessible so that everyone can understand, appropriate and be active agents of their own experience according to their needs.
