I created AnetaEd.com because, as a mother and someone deeply passionate about education, I believe learning is the pathway to opportunity in life. I experienced firsthand the frustration of trying to turn my kids’ screen time into meaningful learning. Despite my best efforts, along with access to time, devices, and a tech-savvy background, I found it nearly impossible to consistently guide my young children to high-quality, enriching content online. I kept thinking, if it is this hard for me, what about parents who are working long hours, who are not tech-savvy, or who face language and literacy barriers?
At the same time, I saw how much time children spend on screens, nearly five hours a day on average, and how little of that time supports their learning. The internet offers an abundance of engaging educational resources, but the missing link was a tool that could organize and guide kids to that content in a way they could use independently.
I built Aneta to empower children as young as two to explore curated content from across the internet using a simple, image-based interface. No reading or adult support is needed. It also removes the burden of content discovery and organization from parents and educators by providing shareable playlists called Anetapacks.
Aneta addresses a structural issue. If we want all children to have equitable learning opportunities, we must build tools that work for every family, no matter their circumstances. Aneta was created to do just that.
AnetaEd.com is an image-based app that works on devices kids already use, such as tablets, Chromebooks, or phones. Children ages 2 to 8 simply click on images to begin their journey through curated content. No reading, typing, or in-the-moment adult assistance is needed. Aneta is typically set up and managed from afar by a knowledgeable adult—such as a teacher, librarian, or tutor—so the child’s own caregiver only needs to hand over the device.
Aneta offers three core features. First, is scheduled activity paths, where images blink at a specific time and become clickable to take a child to a specific url for a website, app, or video. When she scheduled duration is up, a pop-up brings them back to Aneta to continue their journey.
Second, is digital organization through the Homeroom view, where a child has anytime access to clickable icons leading to curated internet locations.
Third, Aneta offers a growing library of pre-curated learning journeys called Anetapacks. Like music playlists, these can be created and shared.
Aneta gives children access to the full richness of the internet while ensuring their experience is safe, structured, and enriching. Aneta democratizes access to beneficial resources on the internet by removing the need for a child to have an available or tech-savvy adult in their immediate environment. It levels the playing field, making quality learning opportunities accessible to every child, regardless of their context.
AnetaEd.com has been steadily gaining traction through a mix of on-the-ground engagement, pilot partnerships, and community outreach. I’ve personally visited child care centers to introduce the platform and learn directly from providers. We’ve run successful pilots with charter school classroom teachers who used Aneta during center time or to support home learning, and with afterschool programs where staff used it to offer enriching screen time even when short-staffed. These pilots demonstrated that Aneta works across multiple settings and helps extend educators' reach beyond the classroom.
We also partnered with a public library on a grant proposal to support device lending using Aneta, pairing hardware access with structured, developmentally appropriate digital learning. Although that grant was ultimately cancelled due to federal budget cuts, the model remains viable and is ready to activate when new funding becomes available.
To maintain engagement and build awareness, I publish a weekly “Gem of the Week” newsletter that highlights free educational resources for kids, and maintain an active social media presence on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. These efforts keep Aneta in conversation with educators and caregivers while showcasing its value.
While adoption has been organic, I’m actively seeking additional partners—schools, libraries, nonprofits, and early learning centers—to accelerate growth and bring Aneta to more kids, especially those who need it most.
We’ve made three key changes to AnetaEd.com based on what we’ve learned from the field. First, we shifted from expecting parents to manage Aneta to focusing on other responsible adults. Initially, I thought parents would be the primary users, but I quickly realized that many caregivers—especially in underserved communities—lack the time, tech skills, or confidence to curate digital learning. Now, we focus on educators, librarians, tutors, and afterschool staff as the primary guides. These adults can manage Aneta from afar, enabling children to use it independently without needing a parent to oversee every step.
Second, we’re working toward offering internet-enabled devices preloaded with Aneta. Access to the platform alone isn’t enough when many of the children who would benefit most don’t have devices or reliable internet at home. Through a now-cancelled federal grant proposal with a library, we learned the value of pairing content with access. We are continuing to pursue partnerships that allow us to bridge both the digital and learning divides.
Third, while Aneta’s image-based interface is universally accessible to children, we’ve increased our focus on multilingual outreach to the adults who decide whether to adopt it. We're now developing marketing and onboarding materials in multiple languages to ensure that non-English-speaking caregivers understand the value and ease of Aneta and feel confident in offering it to the children in their care.
