Montessori Mother Early Learning Center

making Montessori accessible to families - when it matters most

The Berlin childcare crisis leaves hundreds of families struggling or forced to leave their child in daycares offering the bare minimum. We provide the highest-quality education for children 2m-7y old, a diverse community of international families, highly specialised teachers, and a beautiful, functional, child-sized classroom that supports the whole development of our 140+ students.

In Berlin we are a sanctuary of diversity, respect, kindness, and love, and we aim to be the change that we want to see in the world. Our goal is to make our learning center an example of the kind of world we want our children to see. Our goal is to provide the highest quality education possible in a place where children can spend their formative early years to meet their highest potential.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

My main goal is to make Montessori education accessible to families from around the world and provide resources and inspiration so that they can bring the Montessori approach into their homes and have a positive and lasting impact on the lives of their growing children. Every day I strive to connect with parents and caregivers and provide community and information to support every child.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

We offer weekly Montessori classes for parents and children and monthly concerts, art classes, and playgroups for fathers and children.

Our school is a place where children can use child-sized equipment and materials to develop independence, concentration, and responsibility. Each class includes a work cycle, snack time, and music circle. Materials are arranged on low shelves to allow the child to follow their natural desire to learn.

Our curriculum includes: art, fine/gross motor skills, language, reading/writing, sensory integration, music, cleaning, cooking, woodworking, self care, gardening, math, geography, science, social development, and eye-hand coordination. We also have an aquarium, garden, and playground.

A mixed age group, multilingual community, and the support of parents allows our children to build self-esteem, reach their full academic potential, and grow into open-minded, resilient adults who make the world a better place.

How has it been spreading?

Since our launch in 2017 as “Montessori Mother: Berlin’s pop-up Montessori classroom,” we have provided weekly developmental classes for children from 0-3 years old, at-home and online learning materials, parenting workshops, weekend and summer workshops, and Montessori home environment consultations. We now have 2 locations and over 140 regular students.

As Berlin is the most international city in Germany, we are privileged at Montessori Mother to bring together families from over 50 other countries worldwide to promote a community of acceptance and positivity for our children. Over the years we have provided a positive learning environment for over 1000 Berlin families and our waiting list continues to grow!

If I want to try it, what should I do?

Families interested in attending Montessori classes can join the waitlist through our website, montessorimother.com or sign up for a Saturday workshop to come with their baby or child for a visit.

Teachers or administrators who want to start their own 0-3 parent and child program can join our founders network and online business course as early as October 1s of 2024!
