Ollin AC is a Mexican NGO who works for the strengthening of the rule of law trough strong institutions and citizens who are capable to change their realities. We create this innovation to collaborate on the process for building a better world following the SDG of the United Nations 2030 Agenda. We believe we can create this change collaborating with public schools in Mexico.
Every child and youth in our country is a potential agent of change for the future.
The SDGs are approached from different perspectives and with an approach according to the school grade in which this project is applied. Children from kindergarten can begin to develop mechanisms according to their age and knowledge to contribute to the development of this model, even reaching the upper secondary level, generating projects with a much greater impact that has to do with any of the objectives mentioned. A project that works with children and youth has the advantage of awakening new concerns, and as the name implies, being an agency of change, creating potential agents that influence from different areas and in a positive way in their environments and realities, building a better world which inequality gaps of all kinds are eliminated, where we all fit in and live with equal opportunities.
We're working this innovation project with one private school in Mexico City at the moment. We started this collaboration one year and half ago. The name of this school is "Colegio Ciudad de México", and we are implementing specific actions based on the SDG's with children and young students. The project has been successful, we have could implement many actions with the kids, for example: the creation and care of an urban garden and its importance to develop a new way to understand our world; likewise, older students have learned to use the country's instruments of direct democracy as participatory budgeting, to engage, improve, and influence their communities. Our intention is expand the impact of this project and work with public schools.
In Ollin, we have 9 years of experience implementing projects to improve our country and transform our environment in a positive way, which brings as an advantage our accompaniment and advice when implementing a project of this nature. Specialized follow-up results in success in the measures implemented.
