The COVID-19 pandemic closed schools for over 1.6 billion children worldwide, leaving most of Sub-Saharan Africa without viable solutions for the continuation of learning and teaching. As a result, TeckTal Mobile Learning was developed in-house to provide a state-of-the-art contextual online/offline distance learning platform to ensure learning resiliency and improved quality education.
The TeckTal Mobile Learning Platform is a turnkey Plug and Play Solution for delivering educational content to an entire country with limited resources. Besides being a complete online & offline LMS with analytics & reporting, TeckTal is also an In-App lessons production management system with nearly zero learning curve for educators. The platform features an array of teaching and learning modules such as: Virtual whiteboard, Lesson recording, in-app video editing, Quizzes, Chatrooms, Live streaming, Individual and group video tutoring, Question & Answers, and Push notification. Students access content though the platform's app, available in PWA, Android, and iOS.
The Platform's server architecture is uniquely designed for ease of rollout and maintenance with little technical skill required to administer, using docker container images. The Platform is built upon open source technologies and can therefore be easily customized for additional modules, both in the frontend and backend.
The Senegalese government is the first adopter, using TeckTal Mobile within the Projet du Ministère de l’Education Nationale pour le développement du Téléenseignement (PROMET), created by presidential decree. More than 700 lessons have been recorded over just a period of 6 months. Lessons spanning Early Childhood Education, Primary, and Secondary were developed by 50+ Senegalese teachers and educators who were trained on digital teaching pedagogies and related technologies.
The TeckTal Mobile Learning Platform is currently being deployed in Togo through a project, PARSEP COVID-19, funded by GPE and implemented by the World Bank. The project aims to reach 2 millions Togolese students from pre-school to secondary level.
