About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

The majority of education today remains disconnected from the real world. What’s being taught in the classrooms feels irrelevant, and students find it difficult to keep themselves motivated. The disconnection exists between schools as well. Students rarely have the opportunity to expose themselves to the ideas and opinions of students in other schools. Inspire High changes this.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

Inspire High invites distinguished professionals - who we call guides - to share the choices, passions, and principles that led them to where they are, and the challenges they faced along the way. To date, we have invited Taiwan's digital minister Audrey Tang to discuss social change, Masai elder Emmanuel Mankura to discuss identity, Afghani entrepreneur Shabana Basij-Rasikh to discuss the importance of education, and many more inspiring individuals. Interviews with the guides are formatted into a 50 minute program that is used in class. Each program is divided into 15m of input, 10m of output, 5m of feedback, and 3m of reflection. The output prompts the students to further explore the theme of the session, and during the feedback students can view hundreds of unique works submitted by other members and give comments. The program is experienced through a platform designed to maximize participation, and our members have demonstrated an increase in motivation within and beyond the class.

How has it been spreading?

In the past 3 years, we have created 50 programs, featuring the life lessons of diverse guides ranging from a Japanese AI robot designer, to a world renown trans performer and activist. To date, Inspire High has been used in over 300 schools by 50,000 students. Over the next two to three years, we will expand our membership to middle and high schools across Japan, but beyond that, plan to cross the oceans into overseas markets. Our goal is to create a connected learning environment where students from all over the world experience the same sessions, communicate beyond the confines of school, explore universal themes together, and encounter new and diverse perspectives.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

Our solution is currently only available in Japanese. If that applies, then please reach out to info@inspirehigh.com, and a representative will take you through the steps. But we’re curious to get your feedback and thoughts regardless of language. If you have anything to share, please don’t be shy! We would love to hear from you.
