HundrED launches the Global Implementation Centre for Education Innovation in Switzerland

HundrED, with support from The Jacobs Foundation, is launching the HundrED Implementation Centre for Education Innovation. The centre’s purpose is to support the transformation of K-12 school systems through education innovation.

Geneva, Switzerland, 15 February 2023

Working together with education leaders across the public sector, academia, civil society and business, the centre will support innovators as they spread their solutions. Based in Geneva, Switzerland, the centre builds on HundrED’s work as the leading organisation in the identification, amplification and implementation of education innovations.

The centre taps into the potential of existing solutions

The complex and highly contextual nature of our global education systems presents many barriers for education leaders when it comes to successfully implementing new solutions at scale. The world is full of hardworking specialists who are driving innovative, impactful, effective and scalable approaches to education. These existing solutions have enormous untapped potential to be spread beyond an individual classroom.

HundrED, in partnership with its community of education stakeholders, is establishing the Implementation Centre for Education Innovation, dedicated to enabling and facilitating the work of both innovators and implementers, driving innovation at scale.

“Many education providers find it challenging to identify and implement solutions that work on a system level. Through the HundrED Implementation Centre for Education Innovation, we endeavour to better understand what works in different contexts and why, while providing better access to education leaders to the wealth of existing education solutions that currently exist,” explains Lasse Leponiemi, co-founder of HundrED.

A global platform for enabling innovation implementation at scale, the centre will provide a hybrid space, both virtual and physical, based in Geneva, Switzerland, for practitioners, researchers and education leaders to drive widespread implementation of innovations, transforming education systems.

Join the journey

In its initial phase, the centre's activities will be organised across four pillars:

  1. Research - building a robust, evidence-based case for innovation implementation.
  2. Practitioner Support -coordinating co-learning between innovators and implementers to adapt and adopt innovation at scale.
  3. Practical Methodologies - leading practical "do-tank" initiatives designed to catalyse innovation implementation.
  4. Systems Leadership - implementing future-ready education policy in close partnership with the public sector for sustained systems change.

HundrED is actively seeking partners across its community of stakeholders; from innovators to education leaders, policymakers, public sector bodies, philanthropic organisations, multilateral development bodies, NGOs, the private sector and students to collaborate with and shape the future of the centre's agenda.

“We are delighted to support the HundrED Implementation Centre for Education Innovation. With time running out to achieve SDG4 – quality education for all – it is essential for researchers, education leaders, policymakers, and the philanthropic sector to come together to share best practices and develop evidence-backed solutions that can be implemented at scale,” says Donika Dimovska, Chief Knowledge Officer at the Jacobs Foundation.

We are currently collecting examples of education innovation scaling initiatives as case studies for an upcoming position paper. We encourage education implementers to share their experiences by contacting David Connolly, david.connolly(a)hundred.org and join us on this exciting journey of education transformation through innovation.
