How to Inspire Change in Education Through Global Collaboration

Every year, HundrED brings together some of the most inspiring education innovators from around the world, creating a platform where global leaders share their ideas on how to advance global education practices. This gathering of like-minded educators has lead to connections and collaborations which allow innovations to spread at a much more rapid pace.  We caught up with some of our ambassadors and innovators to find out how being a part of the HundrED community has inspired and influenced their work. These are their stories.

Our Global Collaboration series highlights stories from our global community and how their collaboration is inspiring change in the world of education and innovations.

HundrED is like a breath of fresh air. When I first heard about it, I was really enthusiastic to know more and my first thought was ‘how amazing that somebody has taken it upon themselves to do this, to help innovators around the world and lift them up to the attention of people who will benefit from this. And when I heard about the summit last year after we were selected, I was so inspired throughout the three days by the sheer number of interesting people that I met from around the world, and some of those connections have lasted until now and have resulted in different kinds of collaborations. I can see that this is a very powerful movement for many people around the world. This is the beginning! I really hope that hundrED will grow and there will be similar events around the world to what we have here in Helsinki, that it will become bigger and bigger, and more people will get involved.

I think it's a really important movement, from the research being done and then shared. The linking of like minds from around the world, meeting in helsinki and globally online, is really exciting and I'm really proud that we are a part of it. HundrED is very timely and its needed right now for the world.

Hundred's mission is appropriately ambitious for education in the world right now. My take is HundrED, being based in Finland, is leveraging the attention that the world is placing on some of the Innovations that are happening here in Finland to convene education innovators from around the world; that feels smart to me because it's working well. I think the platform that HundrED has created for folks to see, to share and to shamelessly steal and implement is brilliant! I also think the criteria for what Hundred is looking for is also wise; requiring that something is scalable and has been tested and proven to a certain extent, but not so rigid that it's shutting some folks down. I would be very interested to see how things evolve. When I look at the innovations, they come in such different flavors and different grand sizes. Some are point solutions, and some, classroom focused while others are at the school level or at the systems level. I would just be really curious to see what happens. I know that HundrED is collecting data on how people use what they find and I think that is just going to be fascinating to see. The fact that hundred is convening folks who perceive their work and themselves to be education innovators is critical for the field globally. I also agree that in many ways education is getting much more global than it has been previously, so it's exciting.

Lucia Lin, Head of Global Network, GHFhub, Taiwan

From my observation, I think it's fantastic and for me, it feels kind of familiar because we are doing the same thing in Taiwan but of course in these two years, we are only starting with a focus on Taiwan as our field or our environment. I really get inspiration from HundrED's work. It encourages us that we can make our steps faster in order to connect our work with you or to grow our work globally. HundrED has created a wonderful experience. I also feel that there is a kind of Entrepreneurship in HundrED's work. Though HundrED is a nonprofit organization, it is a little different from Taiwan in the sense of what nonprofit organizations look like, because of the emphasis on the spirit of Entrepreneurship
