Books and Dreams was created in 2022 after its founder realized that many teenagers in Brazil didn’t see reading as something enjoyable or relevant to their lives. During literature classes, they noticed that most book content online wasn’t in Portuguese or wasn’t relatable to young people. To change this, they began creating book reviews and literary reflections in a fun and engaging way.
Books and Dreams is a growing online platform where book reviews, themed content, and reflections are shared entirely in Portuguese and aimed at young readers. Using video, storytelling, and social media—mainly Instagram and TikTok—the project presents literature in a dynamic and relatable way, focusing on characters, themes, and how books connect to real-life experiences. The platform has built a community of over 300 engaged followers and reached more than 200,000 viewers across Brazil. Through comments, polls, and messages, readers interact daily, turning reading into a conversation, not a chore.
Books and Dreams has grown organically via social media, word of mouth, and consistent, relatable content. Short videos, interactive posts, and reading challenges keep the audience engaged and encourage them to share content with friends and classmates. Because the content is in Portuguese and tailored to local youth, it resonates strongly with Brazilian teens. Collaborations with readers have also helped Books and Dreams expand across the country. Over time, what started with just a few viewers turned into a national reach of over 200,000 people.
