Faced with massive youth unemployment and the accelerated degradation of ecosystems in Chad, we created this innovation to train a generation capable of reconciling economic survival and environmental protection. Agro Future Chad responds to the climate emergency while offering concrete opportunities, transforming ecological challenges into opportunities for empowerment for vulnerable communities.
AgroFuture Chad is implemented through agroecological school farms where young people learn sustainable agriculture, soil management, and livestock farming. These sites serve as practical laboratories with greenhouses, soilless nurseries, and energy-efficient irrigation systems.
At the same time, community workshops provide training on the SDGs, waste management, and reforestation, involving schools and citizens. The young people are planting 2,600 trees over three years, developing green spaces, and creating cooperatives to market their harvests.
The project also incorporates digital tools from the Green Soldier program to raise awareness via webinars and monitor the ecological impact. Partnerships with the AFD, the World Bank, and local NGOs ensure a solid foundation and replicability in arid zones.
A combination of training sites, tangible ecological actions, and accessible technologies, led by and for young people.
Agro Futures Chad has expanded through three key levers:
1. Local replication: Following the successful pilot in Moundou (2022), the model was extended to N'Djamena (community nurseries) and Massaguet (school cleaning), reaching 15 schools and 1,200 young people in three years.
2. Strategic partnerships: Collaborations with local stakeholders (Scouts du Tchad, AJUPS) and international partners (AFD, World Bank), enabling the sharing of training modules and funding for new sites.
3. Training of multipliers: Trained young people become Green Soldier program ambassadors, leading workshops in their villages and using digital platforms to raise awareness remotely.
Result:
- 10 partnerships concluded (including three international ones).
- 2,600 seedlings planted in five regions.
- 15 green
