Students and parents often don't have a voice in the decision making processes of a school. Educators and school leaders need ways to learn how their work is being perceived and to hear creative solutions to vexing problems.
Communication and feedback with learners, parents, and among the team is critical. Parents and students are sent a weekly Survey Monkey with four questions:
1. On a scale from 1 to 5 how satisfied were you with your learners learning experience this week?
2. What could we do to improve?
3. On a scale from 1 to 5 how satisfied was your learner with their learning experience this week?
4. What could we do to improve?
Weekly surveys are common among the international Acton Academy of schools.
Send out a survey every Friday. At a team meeting on Monday, read the results and choose one of three responses: 1) If the feedback is helpful, incorporate it, thank the giver, and communicate changes made. 2) If it's emotional venting, ignore it because there's to do. 3) If it's good but not mission-aligned, share how and why it’s not mission-aligned and thus why a change won’t be made.
