To meet the needs of today’s learners and align schools with the world we live in, we need to embrace new mindsets about learning that enable the shift toward learner-centered practices. Our consulting and professional learning services create the conditions for systemic change by building pedagogical practices and approaches to technology implementation that put learners in the driver’s seat.
The first step of our proprietary learner-centered transformation approach is understanding a school or district’s unique strengths and needs. From there, we collaboratively design customized professional learning pathways that lead to the articulation of strong learner-centered outcomes, support educators in developing effective instructional practices, and create the enabling conditions that result in transformative change. This process involves five key stages:
North Star – Establish vision, mission, values
Success Indicators – Align learner profile, goals, and metrics
Learning Model – Define pedagogical approach and align resources
Learning Cycles – Set goals and learn to shift practices
Scale – Share, connect and accelerate impactful practices through a pedagogically informed approach to technology
Evidence to date of the success of our learner-centered approach is summarized in our most recent Evidence of Impact report: http://bit.ly/EvidenceOfImpact
Within the last 1-2 years, our learner-centered transformation approach has impacted over 120 schools and districts and over 1 million students across the country. Highlights are summarized in our Evidence of Impact report: http://bit.ly/EvidenceOfImpact.
Additionally, we completed a multi-year research-practice project with the University of San Diego and the Arcadia Unified School District that demonstrated the primacy of trusting relationships in learner-centered transformation efforts (accessible at http://bit.ly/ArcadiaBetterTogether). Over the next 2-3 years, we have ambitious goals to make the learner-centered movement mainstream. We hope to collaborate with an increasingly diverse network of schools and districts to drive learner-centered transformation nationally and globally.
