Young people, as enshrined in the UNCRC act, have just as much right as adults to decide what & how they learn. With over 80% of youth believing their education does not prepare them for the real world, amongst many other concerns, what if young people designed their own education? At YxY youth will develop skills and co-create together, becoming conscious activists in transforming education.
A 3 day online learning experience, by young people for young people, designed around the central question
"What if… young people designed the future of education?"
It will run Friday January 22nd to Sunday 24th, 2021 spanning multiple time zones.
100 young people will be supported by 20 youth hosts who will explore the experience together. We use peer-to-peer learning as an approach to build community and connection - valuing a relationship based approach to learning.
Young people will...
1. Explore what is required for liberated learning and your ability to make & shape change in your life, community and the world
2. Expand your relationship to education and learning in a holistic & experiential way, using imagination as a tool
3. Connect with a multidisciplinary community of activists to weave ideas, experiences and networks
The online program of 80+ sessions are also free to attend for all the public to expand your imagination, develop skills and co-create action for change.
20 trained youth hosts from around the world to co-facilitate a three day event for hundreds of young people, and those interested in supporting youth activism.
