For the years now school environmental education programs in Tanzania has been very challenging for students, parents and teachers to be well involved in hands-on based programs. I work with schools since 2006 and I found that it is too challenging to sustain environmental clubs in schools so we decided to found the YES program to support youth and teachers in science and environment innovations.
Most of school students have been well engaged and involved in nature based solution and innovative projects that allows youth to become motivated in science engagement as well as participating in club projects that help build their mental and physical growth.
More than 151,678 youth have been reached since we found the program and over 1562+ school reached and 1,719 teachers impacted. And several projects have been presented up to date.
The program is mostly using online based platform to reach teachers despite of low number of turn out for teachers as they want to be paid to run the program at schools but for those who find interesting for supporting their students we are fully voluntary involve them and the program has established its extra curriculum program based on annual and help youth and children achieve badge and awards for the best motivation roadmap to youth become creative and innovative through solution based activities and contribute to local challenges at their local.
In the past two years the program achieved to engage different partners including donors, intenational schools and more schools wanted to join the program for the last year the registrations have been a high number compared to previous years.
In the next three years MDF team wants to run the online digital platform where members will be able to register their clubs and members details where our team will be able to help them through online resources compared to now things are running slowly because the program team has to visit a school for providing them some training based on the given activity also assessment for awards and badges has to be field based while if we can use digital connection like online members system can help reach and serve 2 to 3 million youth at once.
