Through this project, we have the opportunity to empower girls and provide them with the resources they need to manage their menstrual health effectively. By ensuring access to affordable and reliable menstrual products, we help to reduce absenteeism, improve school attendance, and enhance educational opportunities for girls in the region.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

The Ceekay Foundation was founded with a deep sense of purpose and a burning desire to make a tangible difference in the lives of girls in Sub-Saharan Africa. The critical issue of menstrual health and hygiene in this region struck a chord with us, and we couldn't ignore the profound impact it was having on the education and overall well-being of these girls.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

Th statistics were staggering. Girls in Sub-Saharan Africa were missing up to 20% of their school year, solely because they did not have access to proper menstrual products. This not only affected their academic performance but also took a toll on their self-esteem and confidence. We knew that something needed to be done, and we were determined to be the catalyst for change.

Our foundation is built on the principles of compassion, empowerment, and sustainability. We want to create a solution that not only addresses the immediate need for menstrual products but also ensures long-term access and affordability. We know that simply providing a short-term fix was not enough; we needed to create lasting change.

By partnering with local communities, NGOs, and government organizations, we embarked on a mission to raise awareness about menstrual health and hygiene, dismantle the stigma surrounding menstruation, and provide sustainable solutions. We worked tirelessly to develop innovatively.

How has it been spreading?

Our journey has been challenging, but immensely rewarding. We have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of our work. Girls who were once held back by their lack of access to menstrual products are now thriving in school, pursuing their dreams, and breaking barriers. We have seen communities come together to support and uplift these girls, creating a ripple effect of change that extends far beyond the classroom.
