Tespack Smart Solar Media (SSM) system

Tespack Smart Solar Media (SSM) system provides access to digital education in rural regions.

Tespack's Smart Solar Media (SSM) system combines hardware and software to provide access to digital education and green energy in rural regions by turning any space into a fully equipped classroom. With SSM system, educators and teachers can power all mobile devices, create energy from the sun while accessing different educational content thanks to our audiovisual technology.

It is estimated that unfinished learning could represent $10 trillion losses unless we bridge the digital knowledge gap that has been widening in the past years. Our vision is to support in the development of human capital while creating a more gender balanced society through empowering the most marginalised groups of people by providing them access to digital, modern education and clean energy.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

Prior to Covid, more than 300 million children were out of school but due to Covid, the situation was worsened with more than 1.5B people being forced out of school. People living in remote areas, the most vulnerable and marginalized, have been left behind as they do not have access to studying and learning opportunities, often due to lack of access to electricity.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

Tespack's Smart Solar Media (SSM) system provides access to clean energy and digital education in rural regions by incorporating solar, power electronics and smart IoT. With the SSM system, agencies can turn any space or a room into a fully equipped smart digital classroom by accessing audiovisual technology for utilising different educational content while using our charging system for powering different mobile devices. With our software platform, we are also tracking how much CO2 emissions have been reduced and green energy created.

We are using patented technology that allows our system to be easily shipped (thanks to our modular battery tech, we can carry around 400W of power inside any commercial flight thus reducing overall deployment time).

Our system has already been used in different parts of the world by leading agencies such as UNICEF, UNDP, World Vision and Plan International thus showing the demand and need.

How has it been spreading?

During the last few years, we have been closing partnerships with major agencies such as UNICEF, UNDP, Plan International, World Vision and Safe the Children as well as with Ernst & Young and Audi Foundation. These organisations are using our SSM system in order to organise trainings, workshops and capacity building sessions in rural regions, in accessing and utilising different educational content such as videos and presentations, which have not been able to be accessed before. We are working with these organisations as part of different educational projects and are supporting local, rural communities in accessing digital content and information.

Our goal is to close the digital educational gap and ensure that rural communities have equal access to digital education.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

Our system can be easily used by any school or organisation that requires access to digital content and works in rural regions as we can provide all needed to teach and educate in any remote locations. In order to get our SSM system, anyone interested should simply contact us at info@tespack.com and we can help them further.

Implementation steps

Upload content into the system
Upload the educational content to be used inside the system, inside the projector via a memory card. Alternatively you can have the content ready on your laptop or phone which can then be connected to the SSM system via a HDMI cable. After this, the SSM system is ready to be used.
Start using the SSM system - switch the system ON
After having the content ready uploaded into the system (or having your laptop ready and connected to the system), switch the SSM system ON pressing the ON/OFF button. After this you can put the projector ON by pressing the button on top of the projector. Now you are ready to use the SSM system. Just make sure you have all 6 power banks inside the charging station and that the system has been charged (with our solar panel or directly from the wall socket).
Showcase educational content with the system
Once the system is ON and ready to be used, you can use the projector to showcase any videos, presentation and documents and this way carry out training and workshops and other educational lessons in any part of the world, especially designed for rural communities. You can also access all of this content on your laptop which is connected to the system. Projector and speakers inside the SSM system allows the user to access different content as needed.
