About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

I am a mother and I am concerned about the the world my son and daughter are going to inherit. This innovation was created to educate children about the impact plastic has on our environment and that eco-friendly alternatives do exist. This innovation gives a solution to the problem. By empowering and teaching responsibility it is possible to make a better world and a beeswax wrap.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

First the innovation presents fact-based information about plastic according to the age group of students. By making questions that bring critical thinking, for example: How big is the plastic island in the Pacific Ocean? What is micro-plastic? Did you know that micro-plastic has been found near Mount Everest Summit? - These questions help students understand that plastic is creating a huge problem for humans, animals and eco-systems. The innovation requires practical action: to make your own SuperBee Beeswax Wraps. It empowers and inspires students to take action to make the world a better place. It also ties in learnings connected to science, chemistry and biology, as the materials used to make SuperBee Wax Wraps are 100% biodegradable. It can also inspire families to change their behaviors when packing kids food and also their own behavior about deciding to carry a reusable water bottle or to keep buying disposable plastic bottles.

How has it been spreading?

This innovation was creating in Thailand and has been spread all over the country. Schools are understanding the impact this innovation has because it goes way beyond the students development, it also impacts the environment and the wildlife around us. SuperBee is a Social Enterprise so the possibility of growing and scaling it, is high. This product can be produced in large quantities. SuperBee needs more educators and schools to engage in this innovation that benefits students, animals and the environment. This innovation is also spreading because "green is the new black" and sustainable practices are trending. Influencers and business are increasingly focusing on ethical and sustainable projects which is aiding organic growth.
