About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

Many children were not receiving the practical education they needed in schools. There was a gap between academic and practical learning that needed to be bridged. That's when the lightbulb went off and we came up with STEMbotix, an in-house platform designed to get kids up to speed on the latest tech, develop critical thinking and logical reasoning, gain hands-on experience and be industry ready.

How does your innovation work in practice?

STEMbotix has developed a custom block coding platform that meets the needs of students who want to learn in a hands-on way. We recognize that not all children are alike and that each child's thinking process is unique. As a result, it's a one-stop-shop. A child who enjoys gaming can create his or her own game. If a child is interested in animation, he or she will be able to produce a short film in no time. Using our block coding platform, one may also create their own drone. Industry-standard hardware like Arduino uno, mega, raspberry pi, etc. is integrated into our platform. Mentors with extensive experience working with children are on hand to provide guidance, and a curriculum tailored to each child's unique needs and developmental stage is used. After just 10 days of training, one of our student built an automatic sanitizer dispenser. There are already more than 1,000 schools and institutions participating in our program, where students are being prepared for the future.

How has it been spreading?

The fact that we were recognized and accredited by STEM.org, a world-class organization dedicated to STEM education, is one of our most proudest accomplishments. When students construct industry-grade models at an early age and are recognized for contests at the state and international levels, we know we've done our job right when we see them go on to publish research papers and become industry-ready. Our long-term objective is to spread our effort across India and, eventually, to other countries.
