Through SmartPath, I hope to see a shift from education systems where guidance is limited, unequal, or reactive to one where personalized guidance is accessible to every learner. Too often, students are expected to navigate complex education and career decisions on their own, with support available only to a few. This creates inequality, wasted potential, and disengagement.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

I created SmartPath after seeing how many talented students—especially refugees, first-generation learners, and youth from low-resource communities—struggle not because of lack of ability, but because they lack access to reliable guidance. Many make critical education and career decisions with incomplete information, leading to missed opportunities, frustration, and dropouts.

SmartPath was created to bridge this guidance gap. By using AI to provide personalized, accessible, and unbiased academic and career support, the innovation empowers learners to understand their options, plan realistic pathways, and make informed decisions about their futures—regardless of their background or location.

The goal is simple but powerful: to ensure that guidance is not a privilege, but a right for every learner.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

In practice, SmartPath functions as a simple, mobile-friendly digital platform that learners can access on their phones or computers. A student begins by answering a short set of questions about their education level, interests, strengths, location, and goals. Based on this input, SmartPath’s AI generates a personalized learning and career pathway, including recommended study options, skills to develop, relevant scholarships, and realistic next steps.

Learners receive step-by-step guidance, reminders, and resources in clear language, helping them move from confusion to action. Educators and partner organizations can use SmartPath to support groups of learners, track progress, and tailor interventions using anonymized insights.

The platform is designed to work in low-resource settings, requires minimal data, and can be adapted to different languages and education systems—making it practical, scalable, and inclusive.

How has it been spreading?

SmartPath has been spreading primarily through pilot use, partnerships, and word of mouth. It has been introduced to small groups of students through educational communities, refugee support networks, and peer referrals, where learners share the platform with others who face similar guidance challenges.

The innovation is designed to be easily shareable and scalable: it is mobile-friendly, low-cost, and does not require complex infrastructure. This has allowed SmartPath to reach learners across different locations through online channels, community organizations, and informal educator networks.

As interest grows, SmartPath is actively seeking partnerships with schools, NGOs, and education-focused organizations to expand its reach, localize content, and support more learners—especially in underserved and low-resource contexts.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

To try SmartPath, you simply need a mobile phone or computer with internet access. Users can start by visiting the SmartPath platform and creating a free account, or by joining through a partner school or organization. After answering a short set of questions about their education background, interests, and goals, learners receive a personalized learning and career pathway within minutes.

Educators and organizations interested in piloting SmartPath can request access to a demo version and onboarding support. The platform is designed to be easy to use, requires minimal data, and does not need prior technical experience
