We created RainRescue to tackle the challenges posed by heavy rainfall in the Gulf region. Intense rain disrupts daily life, damages infrastructure, a threatens safety. By integrating IoT technology and solar-powered robotics, o innovation ensures efficient rainwater management, enhances public safety, and supports sustainable urban development, with Qatar’s Vision 2030 and SDGs.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

RainRescue is a smart rainwater management system designed to tackle heavy rainfall challenges in urban areas. It integrates IoT sensors, solar-powered robotics, and user-friendly mobile applications. The IoT-enabled sensor monitors water levels in real time, sending alerts to drivers via Telegram for safer routes. A solar-powered robot equipped with a live camera and mechanical arm removes debris from drainage systems, ensuring smooth water flow. Users can control the robot via a mobile app for precise cleaning operations. The system operates sustainably with solar panels and provides live updates through a Wi-Fi-enabled interface. By keeping drains clear and offering real-time data, RainRescue enhances public safety, reduces damage, and promotes sustainable urban development. Its modular, eco-friendly design demonstrates how innovative technology can mitigate rainfall challenges while aligning with global sustainability goals.

Implementation steps

Set Up the IoT Sensor Device
