"As a mathematic teacher thinks the exhibition learned very useful and I see that I can integrate my lessons. I can ask my students to create their own similar exhibitions."

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

To establish the link between museums and schools, to determine the needs of teachers and students, to create appropriate activities. Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation Pera Museum expands its programs with online events. Pera Learning Programs came up with Teacher Guidance Booklets as part of the collection’s exhibitions.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

Pera Learning is hosting school groups and teachers in interdisciplinary fields for online exhibition tours and workshops that cover the collection and temporary exhibitions of the museum. Running parallel to the permanent and temporary exhibitions, Pera Learning organizes creative and fun Online Learning Programs for school group (preschool, primary, middle and high school) students and teachers. The events take place on Zoom Meeting app, where students and teachers join in guided online exhibition tours and take part in workshops designed around the exhibitions.
Participants with any level of experience can explore different aspects of museology through workshops focusing on different artistic movements. At the same time, the participants enjoy an immersive exploratory experience.

How has it been spreading?

Teacher Guidance Booklets offer teachers to visit and teach using online 3D exhibitions. The booklets include descriptions of selected works, suggested activities and questions for students related to exhibitions such as Orientalist Painting Collection, Kütahya Tiles and Ceramics Collection. Teachers can use these booklets to prepare ahead of their online visit to the museum with student groups, gain insight into how to examine the pieces. With the provided information students develop critical and creative thinking, inquiry and accurate self-expression skills. Following the online museum trip, teachers may do various activities about the exhibitions. A total of 10226 people attended digital exhibition tours and workshops.
