About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

The creation of PK AI Translator addresses the critical infrastructure gap in digital communication across Pakistan, a nation home to over 70 distinct regional languages. Existing translation tools fail to support these low-resource dialects (like Saraiki, Balochi, and Brahui), leading to deep cultural, educational and economic fragmentation. Furthermore, conventional technology completely neglects the crucial need for Pakistan Sign Language (PSL) accessibility, marginalizing the deaf community. Also Students in rural areas especially girls facing language barriers in learning tech skills. PK Translator utilizes advanced Generative AI to bridge this gap, offering accurate, real-time translation for all dialects and providing essential, descriptive PSL guidance in a single, accessible platform. Our innovation aims to foster true digital inclusion, enabling seamless communication for every citizen, regardless of their linguistic background or ability.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

In practice, PK AI Translator operates as an accessible web application where a user can input text (or soon, voice) in a high-resource language like English or Urdu. The AI instantly translates this input into a low-resource regional language (like Saraiki or Brahui) using its proprietary models fine-tuned with Generative AI. For accessibility, the platform includes a dedicated mode that visualizes or describes Pakistan Sign Language (PSL) interpretation for key terms, acting as a real-time communication aid for the deaf community. This centralized, dual-function utility ensures that complex administrative or educational content becomes immediately usable by the full diversity of Pakistan's population on any device.

How has it been spreading?

The spread of out app has been managed through a strategic dual-channel approach targeting both enterprise integration and community adoption. Initial growth focused on targeted B2G pilot programs within key governmental and educational bodies to demonstrate impact and validate accuracy in low-resource provinces. Simultaneously, we secured strategic B2B partnerships with national telecom and banking sectors, integrating the API into their customer service flows. The unique inclusion of Pakistan Sign Language (PSL) has generated significant organic adoption and support from community advocacy groups and non-profits working with the deaf community. This validation and press coverage has fostered a viral, grassroots spread across diverse linguistic regions, confirming its immediate societal value.

How have you modified or added to your innovation?

Our innovation is subject to continuous enhancement, focusing heavily on AI model refinement. We have significantly modified the Generative AI backbone to specialize in low-resource dialect translation, moving beyond basic models to achieve higher contextual accuracy for languages like Saraiki and Balochi. A key addition has been the integration of Google Search Grounding, which acts as an Agentic AI tool to provide real-time, factual verification for technical or evolving terminology. Furthermore, we are actively adding video and GIF rendering capabilities to the Pakistan Sign Language (PSL) accessibility feature, shifting from purely text-based descriptions to visual representations to improve practical utility for the deaf community.
